Anwar to win the mind’s battle October Madness in Malaysia

Mad man Mahathir has still not admitted knowledge that he knew Anwar was beaten up. What does that make him? Mahathri should have apologised, what example is he setting?we do not know what we Malaysian’s reaction to Anwar's convictions.Najib will probably say that it only proves that his government has not tampered with the law and justice machinery is right Well that’s not that simple as that because this was a case monitored by the people's Court and legal aid from luminaries. But the question still buzzes in my mind: everything happened when Mahathir was at the helm of affairs. How is it that he is not being made to take responsibility for what happened to Anwar in those fateful days. The law is an ass, they say. I now know why. It now transpires  What sort of system is this where politics decides everything and extinguishes the line between right and wrong?

DSAI your political enemies may look too evil and strong for the simple and innocent rakyat today. But rest assured that however weak the people may appear now they are surely behind you and will triumph finally. You may not win personally now but your ideals will in the near future.Be strong and you will the light of the day. How much more must YB DSAI take to bring Reformasi to Malaysia.YB DSAI might not be an angel but the price he pays to have a corrupt free Malaysia needs to be supported.

People say It requires wisdom to understand wisdom: the music is nothing if the audience is deaf. The big question is how to recognize wisdom...in oneself or others, by words and/or action. People also say that when everything else is EQUAL, the mathematical probability of those who are correct in their thinking vis-a-vis those who are not, rest with the majority. In the case of the Nation, it reads something like 52% against 48%. In the case of Penang, it is sheer lop-sided and likewise in virtually ALL the comment forums in Malaysiakini. It reminds me of what Rudyard Kipling 1865–1936 once said (with a little bit of editing from yours sincerely to suit this occasion), "If we all can keep our head, when one or two among us are losing theirs, we going to have us some good fun"........

This Diwali when you celebrate the advent of e-commerce — and goods being delivered at your doorstep at a discount — do spare a thought for the boys carrying them. These delivery boys, mostly in their 20s and 30s, are the lifeline of this business. And they have a difficult job — carrying backpacks weighing 40 kg and more. Doctors say they face the risk of developing disc problems, shoulder strain and other serious complications.

To believe Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri is to believe that it is the civil servants who call the shots, who decide how the county is to be run and that ministers are merely the mouthpieces of civil servants. But this is not believable, for people elect their representatives to run the country and ministers are from the ranks of these representatives in the ruling party.

It is appalling that Nancy is unable to comprehend that when sheread out the reply by the Attorney-General’s Chambers on Ibrahim Ali she was not acting as a script-reader but re-affirming the AG’s reply and elevating it to the status of the government’s official reply.

In the first place, the question was not posed to the AG but to the minister. So it doesn’t matter where the minister gets the information from. The reply given by the minister is an official government reply. Nancy should get this clear.

If she did not agree with the reply given by the AG as she now wants the world to believe, she should not have gone ahead to give it. And if protocol prevented her from discussing it with the AG, again as she now claims, to confirm that that was the AG’s stand, she should have refused to go against her own conscience which, she now tells us, wanted Ibrahim Ali charged and suffer the maximum penalty.

As law minister, she has a duty to see to it that the law is applied to all citizens in the same way without fear or favour. Since she was not happy with the way the AG was applying the law to Ibrahim Ali and since, according to her, she was helpless, she had a choice as no one was holding a gun to her head. She should have resigned.

The prime minister and/or the cabinet would then have had to look into the AG’s reply. If the PM or cabinet had proceeded to give the same reply, then the public would know for sure that it is the government that wants Ibrahim Ali to carry on his racist and extremist activities for reasons best known to the government.

“Jika hendak seribu daya...”  Yes, where there’s a will, there’s a way. The will seems to be to let Ibrahim Ali and his ilk carry on their agenda of hurting the sensitivities of the non-Malays/non-Muslims. Hence the leaving of no stones unturned to manufacture excuses such as that they are doing it in defence of Islam and are protected by Article 11(4) of the constitution.
‘Woman attacked by hubby while praying’, where Fadzilah Ismail was reportedly beaten up by her husband for three hours.

The article reported that “Kangar OCPD Supt Abdul Rahman Mohd Noordin said they were investigating the case for voluntarily causing hurt,” and that the OCPD said that, “No arrest has been made so far as we need a court order.” We are extremely concerned by this statement.

A court order is not needed to arrest an alleged domestic violence perpetrator.

The Domestic Violence Act 1994 was amended in 2012, to make offences involving domestic violence seizable (arrestable without a warrant). If an alleged domestic violence perpetrator is a threat to the safety of the survivor, then the perpetrator can and should be arrested.

It was not reported whether or not an Interim Protection Order (IPO) has been issued for Fadzilah; we certainly hope it has. The IPO is a crucial document which protects domestic violence survivors from further abuse as it notifies the alleged abuser to refrain from any acts of violence, including threats. Police can help obtain an IPO for a domestic violence victim within 24 hours of a police report.

When functioning correctly, the police force stands between survivors and further violence. The police force must be absolutely clear about their duties in handling domestic violence cases.

For this reason, the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) is looking forward to the publication of the ‘Inter-agency Working Together Document to Handle Domestic Violence Cases’. This Working Together Document details the duties of the police and other relevant government agencies in handling domestic violence cases.

We commend the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry for committing to launch the Working Together Document on Nov 25, 2014, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

We must work together towards ending domestic violence. We urge members of the public to call our helpline at 03 7956 3488 if you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, or SMS TINA at 018 988 8058 for a friend to talk to.

When the tail seeks to wag the dog

Are the learned judges unaware that it is public knowledge that Saiful was Najib Abdul Razak and Rosmah Mansor's house guest - in the presence of Muhammad Shafee Abdullah - two days before he lodged his infamous police report against Anwar Ibrahim?
Another possible explanation could well be an attempt by the Mahathir to divert attention from the controversy over his failure opportunity with a vengeance that would have done Vito Corleone – the Godfather played by Marlon Brando - proud.
That danger is no less acute when Judges, deploy official agencies to get even with rivals. More often than not, such deployment is initiated outside the framework of laws, rules and regulations. Fake fabricated cases are evidence of this conceited insouciance.  case is abuse of power that is in flagrant violation of the laws by those who are duty-bound – because of the positions they occupy – to uphold them. The intricacies of the cases continue to be subjected to close and critical scrutiny in the media. But the larger picture they reveal hasn’t attracted the requisite attention: the growing disconnect between the “hardware” and the “software” of Malaysian democracy. The “hardware” of democracy include legislative and executive institutions, the judiciary, . And the “software” relates to the observance of rules and regulations, conventions and precedents to enable the institutions to function in a transparent, accountable and effective manner. What is the recUMNO to promote its national-level interests in states where it has a negligible presence. The strategy is to woo (with financial largesse) or intimidate (with the deployment of central investigation agencies) rival  parties. Let them be at each other's throats on their home turf, runs the argument, but make sure that in Putra Jaya they keep the UMNO-led government going.

Now that a court has given its cachet of approval to MCA vice-president Chew Mei Fun the fierce reaction of the to the Centre’s move is par for the course.Chew said,MCA already knew from beginning that the appellate court would deliver its judgment it is all fix one would expect the sting in the public discourse focussed on him to weaken, if not disappear altogether from politics.
Chew Mei Fun  is condemned to live with this disgrace for her 'conspiracy' to keep Anwar awayuntil her last breath no matter how much he atones forher  alleged act.Conviction aimed to stop Anwar from becoming MB Given the gravity of the charges,

That, however, is unlikely to happen any time soon. In the campaign leading up to the Kajang by election, both supporters and detractors of  Anwar wouldn’t miss a single opportunity to trade bitter polemics.continue his search for justice would, at the very least, make sure that the ghosts of Mahathir are not entirely banished into oblivion. Pakatan has dubbed it as a ‘political vendetta’ and a ‘witch-hunt
The words of this column will make no difference. My apologies for a rare detour into the personal, but this is a rare moment.had become impervious to anything except sycophancy. Words demand a different kind of loyalty, and one was relieved to return to the world of words. relate to an unforgiveable betrayal of trust reposed in them the  Judges  by their readers, friends, colleagues and followers. What makes the betrayal odious is that these individuals professed to promote highfalutin principles of moral and spiritual rectitude. All three of them emasculated the substance of their calling and, in the process, polluted the “software” that is expected to keep state and society in Malaysia in fine fettle. READMOREhttp://themalaybusinesstribune.blogspot.com/2014/03/anwars-conviction-when-judges-are.html

WHY ARE THE BLOODY MPS KEEPING. THIS TREASON OF THE HIGHEST ORDER AN UNFORGIVEABLE BETRAYAL OF TRUST VOTERS REPOSED IN THEMTHIS HAS BEEN MORALLY DEGRADING AND HAS TURNED POLITICS PREDATORY. BUT THINGS STILL REMAINED FUNCTIONAL. TILL PROSPERITY THREW UP A BODY OF PEOPLE WHOSE PROGRESS IN LIFE HAS LITTLE TO DO WITH STATE PATRONAGE AND WHO THUS RESENT BEING SUBJECTED TO POOR GOVERNANCE AND EXTORTION.

Any institution, whether party or government, demands the stability of an uncontroversial script, or the comfort of silence from geniuses who can never find an equitable balance between their self-estimation is a sharp and well-read politician, except when his tongue goes to his head. He has been a good , a former transport minister,, willing to stand his ground and even take a risk or two

A severe, trite, authentic case made by a journalist not just from your fraternity but from your office, the office that for over 12 years has been emblematic of unflinching, investigative journalism is mulled over at a pace that defies your very etymological origin  is this your way of acting correctly?Neither one of you has offered any rationale about why your office does not  examines cases  which is mandated by  Court judgment in correct correct correct  case. How have you acted correctly?Your statement – that you “need time prioritize it,” – does not even make sense – for prioritizing it would mean acting without lapse in time – self contradictory statements such as this have the media, and the ever watchful readership waiting in abeyance while you prioritize, or rather think about acting correctly! If you are, as you say, ‘driven by what she wants’ then how can you follow it up with a statement such as, “(he) stepped down. It was something had not asked for. It was much more than what she wanted.” How sardonically heroic for to give  so much more – a self-contrived temporary vacation to get away from the eye of the storm – for what he ‘in his correct senses’ deems as ‘drunken banter’ and a ‘lapse of judgment’ the Attorney General  should read and understand Article 145(3) of the Malaysian Constitution Unholy Trinity of Mahathir, the AG and the MACC  Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail for malicious prosecution.
. But collective responsibility demands caution: you have to keep space between your blow-drier and your brain.Mahathir  may even have been right , but he was wrong to say what was right.Despite his penchant for the unusual,Dr Ling, a former transport minister, has been a far more careful politician, sticking to his responsibilities at some cost to his individuality.
Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik spoke with passion rather than anger, with force and with seeming conviction. He sought to communicate a new commitment to change the party and its working, so as to build a more empowered India that stays true to its tradition of respect for diversity instead of straying into the majoritarian bylanes to darkness.which required better acting from the irrepressible. Politics is carbon-dated by events, not time.Mahathir Partnerships need tensile strength to survive misunderstandings when suspicion warps a relationship into a tangential curve. Mercury rather than blood flows through the vein of public life; politics is very human and turbulent, and ego floats beyond the reach of rational discourse.Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail brought charges against Dr Ling and another former transport minister, Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, for cheating the government over the PKFZ project. Both were later acquitted.said it before andTun Dr Ling Liong Sik say it again- AG Gani Patail is a liability to this government
